You have probably pushed some swearings when cleaning a grill plate with non-stick coating (Teflon).

Washing by hand is difficult, it never gets it totally clean out of the dish washer and leaving it to soak in warm water with washing detergent is not helping either.

And of course, you can't scrub the damn thing because of the non-stick coating.

But with this trick, your grill plate will be like new.

Products:

  • baking soda
  • vinegar

Procedure:

  1. sprinkle the grill plate with baking soda
  2. sprinkle vinegar or spray with a diluted vinegar solution
  3. let stand for 10 minutes
  4. wipe with a cloth or sponge
  5. rinse with clear water and dry

How does it work?

When in contact with an acid, baking soda will bubble.

The bubbling detaches caked food.

Advantages:

  • efficient
  • eco-friendly
  • non toxic
  • cheap

Disadvantages:

  • vinegar smell but that disappears fast

Cost:

It takes very little vinegar and baking soda, it costs pennies.
